We are a Franciscan community located in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. Our community is composed of religious and lay people called to live and minister among the poor and homeless. We serve the poor and homeless by means of a soup kitchen, a thrift shop and a women's day center. We strive to build relationships with those that we serve as guests and promote the dignity of each person.

Poverty and Homelessness has a face and story.

Our web site is going to educate and introduce the human face and story behind poverty and homelessness. One of the objectives of the site is to raise the awareness level about the realities of poverty and homelessness as a social problem. We hope to do this by educating and presenting the facts about homelessness and poverty. Another way that we are going to achieve our goal is to share the face and the personal story of our guests. The point is not to perpetuate the myth of storytelling but rather tell the harsh reality of the experiences.
