Summer has arrived, but hunger doesn’t take a vacation. During the school year, thousands of low-income students eat free or reduced-price meals at schools. For too many children, the lunch they receive at school is their only meal. However, during the summer many of these young people lose access to regular meals. To address summer food insecurity, the city of Philadelphia provides free, healthy meals to families through the summer meals program.
There are more than 700 summer-meal locations in the city that serve meals and snacks to kids and teens age 18 and under.
